Join us for the Adult Education Series: On Thursday, November 5th! Fr. Phil will begin a weekly Thursday Evening Adult Discussion Group beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The first topic will be the Declaration of Scranton. References will be made to the Declaration of Ultrecht. Curious? You should be – this is the first Adult discussion of it’s kind for the church! Come and join in on the educational session!

Copies will be made available for you to read and we will reflect on what our Church teaches regarding Dogmas and articles of faith. All members and non-members are welcome to attend!

At Sunday October 11th, the PNCC celebrated Solemnity of the Christian Family and Sacred Heart used the opportunity to invite many of our friends and family to celebrate Mass with us at Sacred Heart Church. We had a tremendous turn out and thank all of those who invited guests, pitched in with food and/or made the liturgy a beautiful worship experience.   Friendship Sunday turned out to be an opportunity to reconnect with former, and connect new friends as well as participate in a Special Liturgy. 

The liturgy included a special Sermon offered by Fr. Phil Lavery who inspired us with an uplifting and reflective Sermon and beautiful music by the Echo Choir.   The Parish sponsored a coffee Hour in our Guest’s honor which consisted of several types of home made Quiche, Polish Sausage casserole, spinach and walnut salad, cakes, crumb cakes, jello, coffee, tea and many other treats.  It was a great way for many to feel welcomed back with no questions asked or others to check out the new Parish Administration. 

Come and visit us again – all are welcome anytime – our doors are open to all who want to know the Lord!

You are cordially invited to join us in Worship for ‘FRIENDSHIP SUNDAY’ on October 11th at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church located in Canonsburg, PA. We will have a special Liturgy at our regularily scheduled Mass at 9:00 AM followed by a delicious Sunday Brunch and Fellowship in the Church Hall.

Sacred Heart is forming an Event Planning Committee and we NEED YOU!  The Parish Committee is asking for interested volunteers to help with the planning, and execution of parish events, such as fundraising, outreach and fellowship activities. Sacred Heart elected a New Parish Committee for approval of the Diocesan Bishop on August 16, 2009 to serve a three-month term until the next election in 2010. The following key positions have been elected as well as 2 members of the Parish Tribunal, who are not members of the Committee, one to serve for 2 years and the other for 1 year.

Parish Committee Elections 

Sacred Heart needs to elect a New Parish Committee for approval of the Diocesan Bishop. This process was delayed this year due to the transition to a new pastor. At the next scheduled meeting on August 16, 2009 the congregation is asked to stay after Mass to vote for the new committee.

We need to elect the following key positions, as well as 2 members of the Parish Tribunal, who are not members of the Committee, one to serve for 2 years and the other for 1 year. More later about the tribunal.

In the meantime, those interested in running and those who wish to nominate someone are asked to see or call Rose Cwiklinski (724)746-2785 to have names added to the ballot.

If you are interested in being on the Nominating Committee, please let Rose Cwiklinski know. There will be a nominating committee meeting to prepare for the election and discuss procedures that are in accordance with the Constitution of the PNCC. The number of positions open will be determined as well.

1. Set aside a special time of the day to pray, and try your best to stick to that time. Make sure that it is a time you will likely not be disturbed. Try waking up an hour earlier, or setting aside a time that you will have to yourself during the day.
2. Make a list of all the things and people you want to pray about. You can also go through the Bible and find scriptures that reference the things you are praying about. In your prayer time, go according to the list, praying in detail about each topic, and referencing what the Word of God has to say about the things going on in our lives.
3. Start by using The Lord’s Prayer as a guide. In the Holy Bible, this is how Jesus instructed his disciples to pray.

 

 

Doubling the Strength of Prayer….

1. Get a group of friends together and a great way to increase the power of prayer. People can take turns praying for each other, or praying about whatever is on their hearts.

2. Submit prayer requests to your Pastor or prayer group!

3. Sing your prayers… singing a prayer is music to the Lord’s ears!
